Courtesy of the Empire State AI Literacy Google Grant to NYU Libraries and IT in the Fall 2025 semester, the A&S Office of Teaching Excellence & Innovation coordinated 5 discipline-specific Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) to brainstorm and propose resources to support GenAI literacy.
Each FLC was convened by a faculty member who steered compelling conversations focused on instructor ideas, questions, and concerns around GenAI use in the classroom; both from the student and instructor perspective. At the conclusion of these conversations, each FLC proposed a set of resources on GenAI literacy tailored to each unique discipline.
During the last week in Jan. 2025, each FLC hosted a TeachOut where they shared some of the key takeaways from their conversations as well as their proposed resources. These resources will all be developed by instructional and design staff as part of the received grant.
Each of these TeachOuts was recorded and we highly encourage folks to check them out. Faculty had a lot of great ideas around the topic of GenAI literacy, and many of them are worth considering with the context of all kinds of courses.
