Have you made building your awareness about Generative AI, in particular how students are using it and how you can design your courses with that usage in mind, a goal for summer? If so, our office has two great options for you!
The first is newly updated content in our course, Getting Started with Generative AI for Instructors. The new unit, “Gen AI Essentials for Teaching in 2025”, covers the most common uses of Gen AI by students; provides hands-on practice with ways to use Gen AI in the classroom; and offers practical suggestions and helpful resources for developing a Gen AI course policy statement and AI-aware course designs.
The new unit also offers practice using the two gen AI tools available to all NYU faculty, staff, and students, Gemini and NotebookLM.
Anyone at NYU can enroll in the course by following this link and clicking enroll: Getting Started with Gen AI for Instructors.
The second is a regular meetup for faculty interested in learning more about Google’s NotebookLM Gen AI tool from each other. Our team convenes the monthly meeting and can provide tech help, but the focus is on faculty members sharing their uses of NotebookLM and experimenting with new uses together. The meeting is in person, but there is also a Zoom option. Next meeting is June 25! Complete information is here: NotebookLM Faculty Meetup Flyer (note that access is NYU Only).
Of course, your department liaison from our team is always available for one on one consults and to answer your Gen AI questions. Reach out to them directly or to the office at asteaching@nyu.edu.
