Watch Party for NYU’s Teaching & Learning with Generative AI Conference

We had a great time hosting our watch party for NYU’s Teaching & Learning with Generative AI Virtual Conference! The LaGuardia Student Technology Center graciously hosted our event and the set-up was perfect. Cozy chairs surrounding a big screen fully equipped to join Zoom meetings and conferences. We even had our own camera set-up so we were able to engage with presenters during Q&A sessions!

This space is absolutely wonderful for events like this one, and the center offers many more services and events as well. There are Mac and PC computer stations, specialized software, study rooms, AV recording studios, gaming and Virtual Reality (VR) stations, a media classroom, and presentation/poster printing. For example, if you assign a project that requires students to create a podcast, the center has a recording room that students can reserve to complete their recordings in. You can feel free to reach out to student.tech.centers@nyu.edu directly with any questions about the center or to schedule a tour.

There’s also a wealth of learning opportunities with the VR. For example, the Virtual Interaction Lab at Stanford University created the “Becoming Homeless” project, which uses VR technology to have students experience a possible pathway that results in a person become homeless. Powerful exercises like this one can really allow students to immerse themselves in learning about important social justice issues. This is just one example of VR used to engage students in learning. Please feel free to reach out to your A&S Office of EdTech liaison if you’re interested in finding ways to integrate VR into your course.

You can also feel free to share this NYU Engage page with your students so they can see what events the center is hosting. Just in the next couple of weeks, they have a networking event, trivia night, and a gaming competition!
