FAQ

A student requested an Incomplete. What should I do?
Incomplete grades should not be given simply to delay giving an F. If your student has approached you for an Incomplete and you believe it is appropriate to grant one, please fill out this form together. Pay special attention to the following fields: “Deadline for Submitting Incomplete Work” and “Final Grade to Be Given If Incomplete Work Is Not Submitted By the Deadline Given.” The completed form should be submitted to tisch.collabarts@nyu.edu on or before the last day of classes.

A student is on my class roster but is not attending classes.
First, we recommend you try and contact your student directly. If you do not hear from the student, please raise a flag for your student in NYU Connect. If you do not hear from the student’s advisor within a reasonable amount of time, please reach out to the Collaborative Arts administrative team (tisch.collabarts@nyu.edu), who will put you in touch with the advisor directly.

How do I apply for an adjunct grant?
Adjunct grant applications typically on the first day of each academic semester. You may learn more about the grant process here.

How do I change a grade?
To request a final grade change for your student, see instructions here.

I have questions about benefits or payroll. Who do I contact?
PeopleLink is available for all HR, benefits, and payroll inquiries.

I want to change my course description.
Send your new course description to tisch.collabarts@nyu.edu. Once our Chair approves it, our office will upload the new description to Albert.

I want to change the day/time of my course.
If you are interested in teaching on a different day or time than what you normally teach, please contact Zhuojie Chen (zhuojie.chen@nyu.edu). If classes have not yet gone live in Albert (see here for the academic calendar), then there is a greater likelihood you will be able to change your day or time. We are unable to change your day or time once students begin to register for classes.

What is academic engagement and how do I record it?
NYU faculty participation in academic engagement is a federal requirement – see here for further details and instructions.

What is FERPA?
FERPA stands for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. All NYU faculty and staff must be in compliance with FERPA. You may read about the policy here and review the tutorial here. Inquiries may also be submitted to ferpa@nyu.edu.

What paragraphs do I need to include in my syllabus?
As of the Spring 2024 semester, there are 7 required paragraphs that you must include in your Open Arts/Collaborative Arts syllabus. You may find the 7 paragraphs at this link. The most recent paragraph is the AI policy.

When are final grades due?
Final grades are due 72 hours from the last day of each academic semester. See instructions for how to submit final grades here.

When are midterm progress reports due?
Fall 2024 midterm progress reports will be due on TBD. Our office recommends you complete midterm progress reports so that students have a general understanding of where they stand by that point in the semester. See instructions for how to submit midterm progress reports here. Midterm progress reports do close, so if you miss the deadline, please email your students their progress reports.
