I’m a Brazilian film critic, director, screenwriter, editor and sound editor based in New York City. I’m currently a PhD student in the Cinema Studies department at New York University, and hold an MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University with a Fulbright/CAPES fellowship, and a BA in Communications (Journalism and Cinema) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).
Since December 2007, I’ve been writing for the online film publication Cinética, and have worked as the magazine’s editor in chief between 2010 and 2017. I’ve also published essays on film in a number of books, magazines and catalogs of festivals around the world, such as the Criterion Collection, the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival catalog, and Milton Ohata (ed.) Eduardo Coutinho. I have also worked with directors such as Eryk Rocha, Thomas Elsaesser, Paula Gaitán, Gabriel Mascaro, Fellipe Barbosa, Bruno Safadi, Geraldo Sarno, Sergio Bianchi, Daniel Lentini, Raphael Erichsen, Ramon Porto Mota, Juliano Gomes, Leonardo Bittencourt, Marc Ohrem-Leclef, Maurílio Martins, Raul Arthuso, and Thiago Taves Sobreiro.
This website is both a blog and an ongoing aggregator for my articles on film in Portuguese and in English, which I will be updating constantly. Republished content might have been revised for clarity, but no additions will be made unless otherwise noted. Everything is a spoiler. For recommendations, check out my Letterboxd page.
I also write music, record and perform as Driving Music.
