Out of the void of the disappeared 43 student teachers in Iguala comes Issue 4 of Esferas, which reflects on contemporary violence in Mexico in both political and cultural spheres. The issue also includes a photo essay from photojournalist Tomas Ayuso, and an interview with Brazilian concrete poet Augusto de Campos.
Esferas Issue 3 is dedicated to language: the translation of, the artful practice of, the living in between. We, in turn, dedicate this issue to Judith Némethy, an architect of the Spanish and Portuguese language program at NYU. Find also a photo reflection by an undergraduate photographer on Ciudad Juarez and the U.S.-Mexico border wall, quechua translations by Odi Gonzales, and impressive creative and critical works by undergraduates.
In Issue 2 we present original creative works from faculty in the Creative Writing in Spanish MFA program at NYU. Interviews with prominent artists and a human rights activist from Buenos Aires, senior honors theses and innovative writing from undergraduates complete our second issue.

We are a peer-reviewed, annual publication that publishes exceptional critical essays, visual art, creative writing, interviews, translations, and works related to Hispanic and Luso life within and beyond New York City.
