- Serhat has successfully defended his thesis “Information-Theoretic Foundations of Database De-Anonymization”.
- Fabrizio received the 2024 David Goodman Leadership and Academic Excellence Award.
- Jyotish received the 2024 Dr. Li Annual ECE Publication Award.
- Kubilay’s paper “One-Shot Wyner-Ziv Compression of a Uniform Source” has been accepted to ISIT’24.
- Eyyup, Ezgi, and Kubilay’s paper “Robust Distributed Compression with Learned Heegard-Berger Scheme” has been accepted to ISIT’24 Workshops.

2023:
- Our proposal “Learn to Compress” has been accepted as a workshop at ISIT 2024.

- Elza Erkip received the 2021 IEEE Communications Society Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award. See the NYU article about the award.
- Fabrizio Carpi won the the second place award at SPAWC 2021 Student Paper Competition.
- Fabrizio Carpi won the best poster award in IEEE 2021 Communication Theory Workshop.
2019:
- Elza Erkip received the 2019 IEEE Communication Society Best Tutorial Paper Award for her paper “Energy Harvesting Wireless Communications: A Review of Recent Advances,” IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, Vol. 33, Issue 3, pp. 360-381, January 2015. The award is given to an outstanding tutorial paper published in any IEEE Communications Society magazine or journal in the previous five calendar years. The paper was co-authored with Sennur Ulukus, Aylin Yener, Osvaldo Simeone, Michele Zorzi, Pulkit Grover and Kaibin Huang. NYU Press release is available here.
- Elza Erkip is featured in Crain’s New York Business 2019 Notable Women in Technology list. Her profile can be found here.
- Parisa Hassanzadeh was selected to serve as the Class Representative for NYU Tandon School of Engineering at the All-University Commencement at Yankee Stadium. Parisa received this honor as a result of her outstanding academic achievement of the highest GPA in her graduate graduating class.
- Parisa Hassanzadeh received the 2019 David Goodman Research Award from the ECE Department at NYU.
- Elza Erkip gave a talk “From 5G to Facebook: Understanding and Engineering Networks” at the Tandon Tomorrow Speaker Series. The video of the talk is available here.

- Elza Erkip won the 2018 IEEE Communications Society Communication Theory Technical Committee (CTTC) Technical Achievement Award.

- Elza Erkip gave the tutorial “An information theoretic perspective on web privacy,” at East Asian School of Information Theory and Communications, Taiwan, August 2018.
- Parisa Hassanzadeh won the Best Poster Award at the Joint 7th N2Women and WICE Workshop held in conjunction with IEEE ICC, May 2018.
