February 5, 2021: Writing a First Book in Iberian Studies

Writing a First Book in Iberian Studies
Friday, February 5, from 12.30 to 2.30 pm.

Join us for a roundtable conversation with Mayte Green Mercado (Rutgers), Seth Kimmel (Columbia), Ronnie Perelis (Yeshiva) and Aurelie Vialette (Stony Brook), moderated by Laura Keyt (NYU) and S.J. Pearce (NYU) to talk about both the intellectual and practical challenges of writing a first book. We will spend some time learning about their first books, all published in the last five years, followed by a discussion of process, including topics such as adapting a dissertation into a first book, common first-book pitfalls to avoid, working with a publisher, and moving on from a first book to a broader intellectual and professional agenda.

The event is open to everyone but we especially encourage graduate students and early-career scholars to attend.

Please click here for the information of our meeting via Zoom as well as some promo codes for the books and some excerpts.
