2LEAP MENTORING is a program and platform designed to support the professional growth of STEM faculty at NYU. Through personalized mentoring, it connects early-career faculty with experienced mentors to foster development, promote leadership, and build a supportive academic community.
Each year, tenure-track faculty must select two mentors by the beginning of February. Mentor and mentee training sessions will take place annually in January. Faculty are required to change their mentors each year, though they may return to the same mentors every other year.
How it Works:
- Create your 2Leap Mentoring Profile. 2LEAP Demo Video: How to Apply.
- Review the mentors profiles and their preferred mentoring topics.
- Select any two mentors based on your interests (they do not have to be from your department).
- Initiate contact by clicking “Become My Mentor” and follow the provided instructions.
- Once a match is confirmed via email, you can begin meeting with your mentor.
- Meet with your mentors a minimum of four times per year.
Important Details:
- Currently, the platform features mentors from the following departments: BME, CBE, CUE, CSE, ECE, FRE, MAE, TMI, TCS, and the Department of Chemistry.
- Mentees can choose mentors from outside their department.
- Department chairs cannot serve as mentors to someone within their own department.
- Mentees are expected to have at least four meetings with their mentors each year (total, not per mentor).
For more details on the registration process and other information, please read the NYU 2LEAP™ Mentoring summary or 2LEAP Demo Video: How to Apply.
