This week I did two exciting things:
- Started Makerspace basic training-
- I completed the first 2 parts that are online
- I didn’t get to do the final part that is in-person since I couldn’t fit it in my schedule for the week, but I’m going to see if I can fit it in next week
- I met with Tami!-
- She shared with me many different projects that I’m looking forward to spending the weekend researching:
- We talked about potentially developing a way to cheaply create laser pointers for people with with ALS, since the ones on the market are extremely overpriced. So we discussed the possibility of designing a clip that can be 3D printed, and we buy the lasers themselves, which should be around $20 (much cheaper than the $150 of buying the clip on pointer).
- We discussed the possibility of making a tactile letterboard that can be 3D printed to have in the hospital, just in case a blind person comes in presenting communication difficulties.
- She contacted Sarah Blackstone to see if I could be helpful in the March talk they’re hosting, so she said she’d get back to me on that, and I’m looking forward to it!
