On Nov. 4 I attended the hybrid “Disability Worlds: A reading and discussion” event via Zoom.
Faye Ginsburg and Rayna Rapp, the authors of the Disability Worlds book, shared how they met and started working together, as well as some of the inspiration for the book.
The event was very interesting and I’d definitely like to attend another event with Ginsburg and Rapp after reading the Disability Worlds book. However, I would definitely attend in person rather than virtually.
I joined the Zoom call at 6pm since that’s when the event started, but unfortunately I wasn’t aware that the presentation itself started at 6:30pm and the first 30min were for socializing / meeting each other / networking. I would’ve loved to socialize with the people in that room!
As well, the audio for the presentation wasn’t great and the live captioner wasn’t super accurate, which was a little frustrating.
If I signed up again with my knowledge, I’d definitely go in person if I could. The event itself was great, but I think my way of attending wasn’t ideal, so I’d definitely change that.
