Full text search

How to search the Early American Cookbooks Collection:

Go to the Early American Cookbooks Collection on HathiTrust. Enter your search terms in the “Search in this collection” box and click “Find.”  The titles in the results list can be sorted by relevancy, title, author, and date. Select a title from the list of results and click “full view” to see the full text of the book. Your search terms will appear in the “Search in this text” box. Click “Find” to see a list of results and select to go to those pages in the full text.

Search Tips:

Phrase Searching: Use quotes to search an exact phrase: e.g., “roast turkey”

Multiple Term Searching: When your search terms are not quoted phrases, avoid common words (such as: ‘a’, ‘and’, ‘of’, ‘the’, etc.) to speed up your search.

Boolean Searching: Use AND and OR (capitalized) between words to combine them with Boolean logic: e.g., chocolate OR cake will find items containing the word chocolate or the word cake; chocolate AND cake will find items containing both words. Use a minus (-) to remove words from the result e.g., chocolate  -cake will find items containing the word chocolate that do not include the word cake.
