NYU Tandon’s Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) “Sixth Sense” Team obtained 2nd place in the international 2021 VIP Innovation Consortium Competition (and 1st in the United States)!
The group is developing a wearable device – a belt integrated with a portable computer and cameras – that detects obstacles on the way and warns about them by providing haptic feedback. Such device can be a very helpful tool for the visually impaired.
The research was led by Professors Maurizio Porfiri and John-Ross Rizzo,Our PhD students Alain Boldini, Mohammad Tuqan, Mert Karakaya, and Simon Carrillo Segura participated in the mentoring of the team. Congratulations!
