What could be the effect of the fading vaccine immunity on the spread of COVID-19? What are the best strategies to distribute boosters to the population?
These are the questions that the new study “Predicting the effects of waning vaccine immunity against COVID-19 through high-resolution agent-based modeling” tried to answer, by performing high-resolution agent-based simulations of COVID-19 spreading in the realistic scenario of the city of New Rochelle (NY). The study, recently published by Advanced Theory and Simulations, was conducted by our postdoc Agnieszka Truszkowska in collaboration with Lorenzo Zino and supervised by Profs. Maurizio Porfiri, Sachit Butail, Emanuele Caroppo, Zhong-Ping Jiang, and Alessandro Rizzo.
