Combining masks and social distancing limits COVID-19 spread better

According to the new study by postdoc Brandon Behring, Prof. Alessandro Rizzo, and Prof. Maurizio Porfiri, wearing masks and social distancing individually help contain the transmission of airborne pathogens like the COVID-19 virus, but combining both measures is much more effective. If at least 60% of the population complied to both measures, viral outbreaks would be prevented.

NYU Tandon School of Engineering has published a press release about their newest journal publication “How adherence to public health measures shapes epidemic spreading: A temporal network model” in Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science.
