Dissertation: Very little is currently understood about the occurrence or consequences of fatigue during swallowing and mealtimes, despite clinical concern about swallowing and eating-related fatigue (SERF) among speech-language pathologists. The goal of this study was to understand the prevalence of perceived SERF among older adults, investigate associations between SERF and health parameters such as frailty and nutritional status, and determine whether fatigue during swallowing predicts dysphagia risk in this population.
