Reflection:

For this turnaround exercise, I chose to continue down my path with Alex the ghost, but due to the feedback and lessons of last week’s lecture, I decided to simplify the design. I focused more on the use of geometrical shapes and minimized the use of lingering lines that would overall, not exist in the physical world. This is visible in the outline of the character, especially in the eyes of Alex. I also added horns to make him appear devilish, and two tiny legs that granted him the ability to walk on earth. I will not go detail into the background story of Alex, as I had already done so in last week’s post.

It was quite difficult drawing the turnaround, as I don’t really have any experiences with sketching or drawing at all. I wasn’t sure how some of the limbs were to look as I rotated the character around, but thanks to some tutorials and references online, I was able to achieve a character that I am somewhat satisfied with. The guidelines/rulers in the example turnaround of the BrokenLED really helped me ensure that proportions and angles were sustained in the correct format. I do have to say that I found the “Birds Eye View” of the turnaround most difficult to complete. I am honestly not even sure if I have done it correctly.

As for the colors, I made sure to turn them all into those of the PANTONE catalogue as recommended in class. Since I am overall familiar with the Adobe platform, the only thing that was really holding me down throughout the entire experiences was my inadequate experience in drawing and sketching for 3D Spaces.
