Overview

Communication Theory and Technologies (CT&T) Research Lab is lead by Prof Murat Uysal. At CT&T, we conduct fundamental and applied research on the physical layer aspects of wireless communication systems. We explore both radio- and optical-based connectivity solutions for future generation wireless networks. Historically, our lab started with the WiComS Group back in 2002 at the University of Waterloo (Canada) where Prof Uysal worked until 2011 and later continued with the CT&T Lab at Ozyegin University (Turkey). Our past group members now hold positions in academia and industry all over the world.

Current research projects are mainly focused on optical wireless communication (OWC) which refers to unguided transmission using optical frequencies. This line of research challenges the traditional way of thinking that associates wireless technologies with radio frequency. Towards the overall goal of positioning OWC as an integral part of future generation wireless networks, we work on the development of OWC-based novel wireless access and backhauling solutions.
