Evolution of the Human Dentition (Cambridge University Press)

The book begins with an introduction to the importance of dental variation for the study of human evolution.  Chapters include:  overview of classification, phylogenetic reconstruction and the hominin fossil record; anatomical and morphological nomenclature and microanatomy; tooth size and shape through dental metrics. The bulk of the book will focus on dental morphology of each genus, with further breakdown of variation within each species of each genus.   The final chapter compares data among hominin species and examines current hypotheses about human evolution.
