How difficult is mathematics?
Remember, anyone can cook!
Mathematics is an intellectual adventure and a participation game. And it’s useful too!
I believe that everyone can appreciate it and do it at a level that empowers them and even gives them joy. Mathematics can offer incredible insights and connections that surprise and delight us (a fact that isn’t always obvious from school education). My lofty aim in teaching is to help you participate in this intellectual adventure to the fullest extent, though in practice we sometimes have to settle for the chain rule.
