Pedagogies for a Changing World: Environmental Studies and Anti-Racist Pedagogy

February 23, 2023

The Environmental Humanities is a unique interdisciplinary space that allows for students and scholars to have urgent conversations around the environmental and social questions arising in our changing world, as well as envision possible futures. What are the notions and ideas, interdisciplinary pedagogies and challenges that define the Environmental Humanities? What are the ways in which diversity and anti-racist perspectives can be promoted in environmental education? What are specific examples that show the intersection of environmental issues and racial, gender and class-based inequality? In this panel conversation, scholars, educators , and community advocates discuss approaches they take in their higher education classrooms to cultivate knowledge and awareness of the critical junction between environmental and social justice.
