Congratulations to NYU professor and Tech Summit keynote speaker Yann LeCun, one of three researchers to receive the 2018 Turing Award. LeCun, Yoshua Bengio and Geoffrey Hinton, were honored with the $1 million “Nobel Prize of computing” in recognition of their work in AI deep learning.
The powers of Marvel Comics character Jane Foster were on full display at this year’s AMUG Conference. Inspired by Foster’s signature Thor armor, Dhemerae Ford, an Advanced Media Specialist at the LaGuardia Studio, presented a 3D printed prototype of Jane Foster’s helmet, which showcased details from the character’s costume and symbols found in Norse mythology.
The 2018 HackNYU hackathon took place over the weekend of March 24-25. Out of 81 final submissions and 501 participants, there were 16 winners across categories such as Assistive Technology, Educational Technology, Healthcare, and Sustainability & Social Impact, as well as recognitions awarded by event sponsors.
