- Research an organization’s website, social media, and other relevant information such as news articles or press releases.
- Check for any current internship or employment opportunities listed on their website and apply.
- If no opportunities are listed, find the best person to contact on their site or submit an inquiry via email or contact box to ask if there are internship or employment opportunities available.
- Send a follow up email if appropriate.

International Contemporary Ensemble
The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) is a leading ensemble dedicated to performing and promoting new music. The New York Philharmonic is one of the oldest and most prestigious orchestras in the United States, known for its rich history and outstanding performances. Based at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center, it presents a wide range of classical and contemporary music to audiences around the world.
The Talea Ensemble is a contemporary music group based in New York City that specializes in performing and commissioning new works by living composers. Known for its virtuosic and adventurous programming, Talea brings cutting-edge music to diverse audiences worldwide.
Wet Ink Ensemble is a New York-based collective of composers and performers dedicated to creating, performing, and promoting contemporary music. It emphasizes collaboration and experimentation, presenting innovative programs that often feature new compositions and multimedia works.

Presenting Organizations and Venues
Founded in 1987 by composers Michael Gordon, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe, Bang on a Can is a multi-faceted contemporary music organization based in New York City. It is known for its adventurous programming, including the annual Bang on a Can Marathon (now Long Play), and its dedication to fostering innovative music through performance, recording, and education.
One of the most prestigious concert venues in the world, Carnegie Hall in New York City is renowned for its acoustics, history, and role in presenting a diverse array of musical genres. Since its opening in 1891, it has hosted countless legendary performers and continues to be a leading cultural institution.
Jazz at Lincoln Center, led by Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis, is an internationally acclaimed organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of jazz music. It offers performances, educational programs, and broadcasts from its home at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is the largest performing arts complex in the world, hosting a variety of events including music, dance, and theater. It is home to 11 resident arts organizations and serves as a cultural hub in New York City, attracting millions of visitors annually.

Record Labels
Founded by the creators of Bang on a Can, Cantaloupe Music is an independent record label dedicated to releasing innovative and genre-defying new music. It serves as a platform for groundbreaking composers and musicians to reach wider audiences.
Established on principles of community, artistic diversity, and stylistic freedom, New Amsterdam Records (NewAm) is a not-for-profit artist’s service organization dedicated to supporting the public’s engagement with new music by composers and performers whose work transcends traditional and outdated genre distinctions. New Amsterdam is focused on the development, dissemination, presentation, and promotion of new album-based projects that wholly fulfill the intent of their creators, resulting in music without walls, without an agenda, and without a central organizing principle.
