Principal Investigator

Si On Yoon, Ph.D
Si On is an assistant professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016.
Her research takes a cognitive science approach to studying complex language processes. She investigates how individuals use social-pragmatic information in conversation and explores how the ability to interpret social-pragmatic cues during language processing develops and changes across diverse populations. Lab Managers

Ishika Mroke
Ishika is a master’s student in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Her research interests align with working in populations of individuals with neurogenic disorders, and anything involving the effects of communication between conversational partners.

Research Assistants

Liliana Que
Liliana is a senior majoring in Computer Science with minors in Linguistics and Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Her research interests include first language acquisition, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and speech and language development.
 
 
Rae Yu
Rae is a senior majoring in Applied Psychology. She’s interested in developmental psychology, specifically the subjects of language literacy and language development.
 
 
 

Sophia Andia
 Sophia is a junior majoring in Communicative Sciences and Disorders and Global Public Health. She wants to further explore the impact that communicative science has on the world and how it can truly transform the lives of so many people who struggle with communicative disorders and diseases.

Megan Chow
Megan is a junior double majoring in Communicative Sciences and Disorders as well as Media, Culture, and Communication. She is interested in how assistive technologies/media could be used to aid in the social communication of bilingual and adult populations.
 
 
Esha Mampilly
Esha is a Junior majoring in Communicative Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies. Her research interests include neurogenic communication disorders, speech and language development, and speech production in the ASD population.
 

Yi Wang
Yi is a junior visiting from NYU Shanghai studying Data Science and Interactive Media and Arts. She’s interested in natural language processing but open to all possibilities!
 
 

 

Marilia Serodio
Marilia is a freshman at NYU College of Arts and Sciences studying linguistics and computer science. Her research interests are in understanding how communicative disorders affect language and cognition. She want to explore the intersection of speech-language pathology and assistive technology.
