To schedule a meeting with Max outside of Registration Periods (April and November), email him directly at mjd581@nyu.edu with your preferred meeting time and a brief overview of what you want to discuss.
Example: “Hi Max, Can we meet to talk about doing a minor in CAS? I’m around Monday morning before 12pm or Tuesday after 2pm. Thanks!”
Note: If you have questions about minors, studying away, degree requirements, or anything really, it is best to ask these BEFORE the Registration Period to talk through your questions. During Advising Appointments in the Fall/Spring registration period, the focus should really just be on your proposed schedule for the next semester.
Fall/ Spring Registration Periods
- Registration Periods are the months of April (for Fall semester advising) and November (for Spring semester advising).
- To meet with Max during these times, you will need to schedule an appointment on the CA Advising Appointment Calendar.
- Please note that you are required to meet with Max during these Registration Periods in order to get your schedule approved and have your Registration Hold removed.
- If you don’t meet with Max, you won’t be able to register for classes.
What to Prepare for an Advising Appointment
- The class schedule for the coming semester will be posted at least 1 week before Advising Appointments begin. Take time to see what will be offered and plan a schedule out based on your remaining degree requirements.
- BEFORE your Advising Appointment, you should have a proposed schedule mapped out and a COMPLETED Advising Worksheet (digital or hand-written are both fine).
- If you show up to an Advising Appointment without a completed Advising Worksheet, you will be asked to reschedule.
- If you aren’t sure about what degree requirements you have left to fulfill, you can always email Max before your Advising Appointment to see where you stand.
Summer / J-Term Registration
- If you are interested in taking courses over the Summer or January Terms, you will still need to meet with Max and get your Registration Hold removed.
- You can schedule these meetings via email.
- Unlike Fall/Spring, there are no Registration Appointment times – all students are eligible to register at the same day/time.
- Please note that Summer and January Terms are considered separate semesters and do not fall under Fall/Spring Financial Aid or Scholarship. You will be responsible for the extra tuition, fees, housing, meal plans, etc.
