UAD Console Guide

The audio interface works in conjunction with a software called “UAD Console.” The software is a digital representation of the mixer interface.  Open the UA “console” program from the taskbar to see which instruments are routed to each channel, and the settings which correspond to each instrument.
Each of the channels are labeled and correspond to an instrument in the studio.
Adjusting Gain
Console also allows you to see and adjust the input gain for each instrument.  Adjusting the gain is an important part of the recording process. To get a good signal, turn up the volume relatively high on your instrument (for this example we’re using the Prophet 5.)
Then, locate the corresponding channel and gain knob for the instrument you’re recording. The Prophet is being recorded to channel 2.  Adjust the gain knob until your recording level (displayed by the green line on the meter) is approximately between 12 and 3 on the righthand side of the meter.
Adding Effects
To add an effect to the instrument you’re recording, select one of the [+] icons in the “Inserts” section of the Console. From the pop-up menu, select a plug-in to experiment with. A good way to learn how to use the plugin is to open the “Presets” menu.
This will open a list of settings made by professional sound designers for the plugin to achieve desired outcomes. Experiment with these and observe what aspects of your sound changes, adjust them to your personal taste and need.
