Here’s everything you need to know about getting started with the Sony a7III
Inserting the Battery and Memory Card:

- Open the battery compartment located on the bottom of the body.
- Make sure you use a compatible SONY NPFZ100 Battery. (this is a larger battery than the Sony a6400 and a7RII cameras require)
- Insert a memory card in the slot located on the right-hand side of the camera (SDXC recommended)
Attaching a Lens:
- Align the lens’s white dot with the camera’s white dot.
- Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place.
Powering On:

- Turn the switch to the “on” position located on the top right-hand side of the camera.
Choosing a Shooting Mode:

- Turn the mode dial to select Auto, P (Program Auto), A (Aperture Priority), S (Shutter Priority), M (Manual), or Video.
Navigate to Format:
- Use the control wheel to navigate to the Setup (toolbox icon) menu.
- Scroll down to find the Format option.
- *This will erase all footage on your memory card, so make sure it’s backed up*
Adjusting your Focus:

- When in manual mode, use the outermost ring on the lens to adjust the focus of your image.
- When in automatic focus mode, press the shutter button halfway to focus, and fully to capture the image.
Adjusting the Shutter Speed:

- Use the wheel on the top right-hand side of the camera to adjust your shutter speed, the lower the number, the brighter your image will be.
Adjusting the Aperture:

- Use the scroll wheel when the menu is closed to adjust your Aperture, the lower the number, the brighter the image.
Adjusting the ISO:

- Press the scroll wheel on the right-hand side, (labeled ISO) to open the menu to adjust the amount of digital brightness added to your image. Use the scroll wheel to make your selection.
- *Warning* ISO is useful in low-light scenarios, but will make your image grainy if too much is applied.
Taking a Photo:

- Frame your shot using the LCD screen or electronic viewfinder.
- Press the shutter button halfway to focus (when auto-focus is active,) and press fully to capture the image.
Recording a Video:

- Frame your shot using the LCD screen or electronic viewfinder.
- Press the red “record” button situated next to viewfinder. Press it again to stop.
