CMT’s Math Program for Young Scholars Returns in Summer 2026!

Our Application Will Be Open February 1st – March 31st

Program Overview

CMT’s Summer Math Program for Young Scholars is an intensive in-person 3-week program for mathematically talented high school students. It provides a mathematically rich environment to high school students interested in mathematics, and is designed to encourage them to consider careers in the mathematical sciences. Selected high school students in Grades 9-11 are introduced to undergraduate level math topics while building problem solving skills. In past years, topics included number theory, group theory, graph theory, knots and surfaces, and computer science. All lectures are led by Courant faculty. Each lecture will be followed by a problem session led by a teaching assistant where students will work collaboratively in groups. Afternoons consist of math puzzles and games, or talks and topics about using math in different fields of science and in every day life.

Program Dates for Summer 2026

August 10 – August 28

Eligibility

Current high school students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 who are interested in learning advanced mathematical ideas are invited to apply. At this time, we are unable to accept international students who are not currently attending high school in the United States.

How to Apply

Our application will open on February 1st (check back then for the application link) and will close on March 31st. Applicants will need to provide a school transcript, a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor, and write multiple math-related essays.
