BUGGIN’ OUT
A funny film about a serious topic…
(2010, 20 mins, Director: Jamie Berthe)

When news broke of a bedbug outbreak in Paris during fashion week this fall, it sent shivers down the spine of New Yorkers who had lived through the bedbug panic of 2010. To better understand the singularly paranoid experience of living through a bedbug infestation, join us for a screening of BUGGIN’ OUT, a short documentary about one woman’s quest to free herself from the clutch – both physically and mentally – of these extraordinary insects. Completed in 2010 in NYU’s Program in Culture & Media, the film resonates in new ways in a post-Covid landscape, where lingering anxieties about invisible threats in public places have made many of us more susceptible to unfounded fears of contagion and mass panic. Post-screening discussion with Director JAMIE BERTHE, Professor EUGENIA KISIN (NYU GALLATIN), and special guests. Moderator: FAYE GINSBURG (NYU CMCH). Come for the film and discussion, stay for the bed bug prevention tips!
