500 Years: Life in Resistance (2017, Dir: Pamela Yates/Prod: Paco de Onís) follows the trial of former Guatemalan dictator Efraín Ríos Montt for genocide against the country’s indigenous Maya population in the 1980s and the popular uprising that followed the trial, which led to the toppling of President Otto Perez Molina. The documentary is the third film in a trilogy which also includes When the Mountains Tremble (1983) and Granito: How to Nail a Dictator (2011). Discussion follows screening with Pamela Yates and Paco de Onís
