REBEL ROSSA (2016, 90 mins, Dir: Williams Cole)
Irish-based historian, Gabriel Doherty (University College Cork), will mark the centennial of the death of Thomas Ashe with a lecture on the impact of Ashe’s passing while on hunger strike in 1917. The Ashe lecture will be paired with a screening of Rebel Rossa (2016, 90 mins.) which unpacks the legacy of the Irish rebel Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa by his American great-grandson told within the context of the controversies leading up to the 100-year anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland.
Screening and lecture will be followed by Q&A with director and producer, Williams Rossa Cole, and Gabriel Doherty.
