The Horiba PTI QuantaMaster 400 Fluorescent Spectrometer is an extremely sensitive bench-top fluorimeter with a signal to noise ratio of 20,000 to 1. With this high sensitivity it allows the minute traces of fluorescent materials to be detected and identified in samples. This system features state-of-the-art high throughput monochromators with a triple motorized grating turret for easy extension of the spectral range and motorized flipping mirrors to make it easy to work with additional light sources and detectors. The system is controlled with PTI’s FelixGX program for data acquisition and processing. The emission range for this system is from 185 nm to 680 nm with the detection limit of 400 attomolar of fluorescein solution in 0.1 M NaOH. It also equipped with an automated temperature controlling unit allowing precise variable temperature control from -25 °C to 105 °C.
The system enhanced with Horiba’s PMT-928 photomultiplier tube detector that has a detection range from 185 to 900 nm. This detector also has ultra high sensitivity and high quantum efficiency.
The instrument has been upgraded with Horiba’s DeltaHub time correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) lifetime module. This new setup features fast lifetime acquisition times, sensitivity is higher by using single-photon counting detection, more accurate measurements, and can measure a wide range of lifetimes .
A new amplifier-discriminator module was also purchased that features an amplifier with bandwidth up to 2GHz, a constant fraction discriminator, detector overload protection, and programmable non-volatile settings. The combination of features make it suitable for applications involving low gain detectors.
We also now have Horiba’s 355 nm SpectraLED light source which is a nice alternative to xenon lamps because they can operate at higher repetition rates, the software can easily control the pulse duration and repetition rate, there is no afterglow which typically hinders lifetime interpretations below 100 us and operates silently.
