Waters ACQUITY / Xevo G3 LC-QToF MS

Location: Silver Annex 840

This behemoth of an instrument will revolutionize how you characterize your compounds. The combination of Water’s ACQUITY Premier liquid chromotography system with their Xevo G3 Q-ToF mass spectrometer will provide state of the art capabilities to the SIF.

The ACQUITY Premier LC system provides reliability, ruggedness, and high quality results every time. Boasting an operating flow rate of as low as 0.001 mL/min, sample compartment temperature range of 4 to 40 oC, and a quaternary solvent management system the results will not be disappointing. The system features MaxPeak High Performance Surfaces Column Technology. A special internal column coating that prevent analytes from binding to the metal surface of the column. This will increase sensitivity and reproducibility in the analysis of peptides, oligonucleotides, BMR and small molecules. The LC is equipped with Water’s eλ photo diode array (PDA) detector which has data rates up to 80Hz, baseline noise of +/- 3 μAU, 1.2 nm resolution, and wavelength range from 190 to 800 nm.

The Xevo G3 QToF combines various methods and technologies to obtain superior robustness, sensitivity and selectivity along with high dynamic range, mass accuracy, and speed of analysis, resulting in the highest quality qualitative and quantitative information.

Their StepWave XS ion optics helps efficient transmission of low m/z, labile species increasing compound coverage and analytical fidelity without compromising high mass biomolecule analysis. The XS collision cell focuses the ion beam for maximum transmission of ions to the ToF mass analyzer for rapid data acquisition with maximum sensitivity. Then finally the QuanToF technology delivers mass resolution, dynamic range, mass accuracy, and speed of analysis, so that the narrowest chromatographic peaks from the most complex sample matrices can be identified and quantified with no compromise in performance.

In addition to +/- ESI source modes, it is also equipped with their highly efficient Ion SABRE atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) probe which features thermally enhanced heater design, excellent heat distribution and sample vaporization leading to improved sensitivity at high liquid flow rates.
