Over the past couple of months, most of the instrumentation computers have gone through hard drive and operating system upgrades. All computers now have solid-state drives to help run software and the operating system much faster and slightly reduces the chance of hard drive failure compared to mechanical hard drives.
In order to be aligned with NYU’s new cyber security software, Windows 10 have been installed on most computers. This upgrade will also allow us to connect all Windows 10 computers to the SIF Server directly. You will be able to transfer/backup your data immediately after it is acquired. You will still be able to access the instrument’s data folders through the workstations to transfer data if needed.
Also, the following instruments can be used using your own Active Directory (AD) account. When logged in, your SIF Server folder will be mounted as the M: drive where you can directly save your data. The list will be updated on the SIF website as we roll out more instruments that implement this procedure
