If you need sounds, free music, or are interested in licensing music for your project, resources are available.
Do not be intimidated by the prospect of trying something new! This is your time to do just that as part of your discovery process.
Not every film requires full orchestration or even a fraction thereof. However sound can be an important story-telling asset for your film. Here’s what another New Yorker had to say about music and sound:
“Wherever we are, what we hear is mostly noise. When we ignore it, it disturbs us. When we listen to it, we find it fascinating. The sound of a truck at fifty miles per hour. Static between the stations. Rain. We want to capture and control these sounds, to use them not as sound effects but as musical instruments.”
— John Cage, ‘The Future of Music: Credo‘ (1937)
