In the Play & Language Lab, we study children’s learning and development across the first years of life, with a focus on how social and cultural contexts influence the skills that children acquire and how they engage with their physical and social environments. We observe and video record children and parents and infants from different language and cultural communities—in the natural setting of their home environments, during structured tasks, and in the lab. Our observations provide us with rich video records for detailed coding of children, caregivers, and context.
