COMLAB PROJECT1: ONE BLACK SQUARE

To be honest I had a few misunderstandings about this project. In my work, I tried to use four pieces as a set of a bigger image, which made me pay too much attention to realistic shape more than the abstract composition.

However, I did enjoy the process of making these images.

One of the images I mostly focused on is the tiger. I had one of my old works as a reference.

And I sketched for myself to further arrange the black square.

For the other four thumbnails, I used the word “life” and made each piece show a different state of life.

I got inspiration from the images shown in the class.

In these two series of works, I mainly used closure, symmetry, and continuation.
