staRt: Speech Therapist’s App for /R/ Treatment
New technologies have the potential to revolutionize both development and delivery of interventions for speech sound disorder. However, translation of this research to clinical practice is currently limited by the cost of the technology. In partnership with the talented programmers at Girlfriends Labs, our team is developing an iOS app with the goal of making an evidence-based biofeedback treatment program readily available to SLPs worldwide.
This project is supported by an ASHFoundation Clinical Research Grant, as well as funding from the Steinhardt Technology Grant and the NYU Research Challenge Fund. Co-investigators include Mario Svirsky (NYU Langone) and Tae Hong Park (Steinhardt). This work also benefits from the outstanding students and faculty in NYU’s ABILITY Project.
We are looking for clinicians in school and clinic settings to pilot our app with North American English-speaking children with /r/ misarticulation. Download one of our informational letters:
