NYU Information Technology and the NYU Web Publishing Team are conducting a review of all plugins, themes, and sites in preparation for its first annual Spring Cleaning.

This means that new features are coming to the service to better support the growing needs of the NYU community. This also means two important things for you:

  1. Any plugins and themes that are no longer supported by the WordPress community (i.e. out of date or not compatible with the latest version of WordPress) will be removed from the service.
  2. Any websites that have not been updated in more than a year will be removed from the service.

The Web Publishing team is working hard to find replacements for any functionality that will be removed and will try to make this a smooth transition. This Spring Cleaning will begin on May 26th, after the Spring semester ends so as not to impact any courses or sites during the term.

What you have to do?

If you have a WP site that has not been updated in over a year and would like to keep that site, please login to that WP site and make a small change or edit. Any sites that have not been updated in over a year from May 19, 2016 will be permanently deleted from the service.

Questions?

If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact the NYU IT Service Desk at AskIT@nyu.edu.
Stay tuned for more information regarding which themes and plugins will be removed and which new features are coming to the service.

Thank you in advance for your support while we make improvements to the service.
