Kaylee Reynolds
Kaylee Reynolds is a New York-based artist born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Primarily working with oil paintings, Kaylee’s work seeks to empower the black figure, through exploring its movement in various vulnerable spaces in society. Her practice investigates the various individual yet intersecting experiences that are intertwined with her identity as a black non-American, by juxtaposing formal representations of the black figure against or in the context of white, and other backgrounds. Her paintings depict black figures in various forms and positions, as well as portraiture, usually placed in white spaces, as a metaphor for a white world. Her practice also extends to collage and digital photography, often used as studies, to further investigate the movement of the body through the various societal spaces we navigate and occupy.
