Nick Klein, 2025

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Psychology and Social Intervention program, with a specialty in education policy, in the Applied Psychology department at New York University’s Steinhardt school. I am also an Institute of Education Sciences fellow (2021-2025).

My scholarship bridges three intersecting areas: families’ engagement with education systems, the design of those systems and structures, and innovative programs and tools that foster belonging and expand access to opportunity.

I specifically focus on:

  1. Understanding how caregivers support their children’s development and access to education.
  2. How education systems can:
    1. Be more responsive to families’ needs and, in turn, increase their access to educational opportunity.
    2. More effectively implement programs and internal monitoring procedures to foster children’s development.

My research has mostly focused on caregiving and systems supporting early childhood education and care.
