The Roland GX-24 CAMM-1 Servo is a 24″ wide plotter, set up to cut rolls of adhesive vinyl. The machine produces single color adhesive decals. The lab stocks 24″ rolls of Oracal 631 (non-permanent) vinyl in a variety of colors, and students can provide their own specialty vinyls. Canal Plastics is a good local source for holographic, iridescent and glossy vinyl. (Note: not all of the material sold by canal is adhesive-backed. Do not buy material without a backing if you are new to vinyl cutting). Specialty vinyl, including heat-transfer vinyl, is also widely available on amazon or in craft stores like Michaels.
Exhibition vinyl (show titles and basic wall text) is produced by lab as a courtesy. For personal or class projects, students must come into the lab to cut and weed vinyl themselves.
