“Good art inspires, Good design motivates”
My view on smart design and emotional design is not too different from what I wrote about product design in the last blogpost. The core of design is PEOPLE, understanding people and what THEIR NEEDS ARE. If we go deeper, then why do people need a new design? To improve their life and the way they do things, but why? To improve their satisfaction. Product design, no matter if it is smart and emotional design, is always connecting problems with the emotional side of people which is their satisfaction.
In my view, emotional design is about creating strong connections with users on an emotional level. It means making products that not only work well, but also be a solution that makes users feel good. The purpose is to build lasting emotional bonds, so people keep coming back for the positive feelings the product gives them.
How smart design can improve the way people do things, improve their daily life to meet their satisfaction.
For me, the two things that hold a special personal emotional connection to me are my highlighter and my diary. I love to read books in the morning and I love to highlight the things I want to remember. Marking the hooks, lines and quotes that amaze me in the book adds joy and satisfaction in my reading process. The hook, the line, the quote, and everytime I read books I will have my highlighter with me. The act of using highlighter not only serves the practical purpose of marking the important things but also makes me feel good and addicted.
The second thing is my diary, a diary book always feels special since I have written diary entries since I was in middle school. This simple yet valuable book has been a constant companion witnessing my journey for the half of my life. Writing a diary is addicting and is a therapeutic process, whenever I open the book it feels different and it gives me power. I believe that words have power and through diary I can write everything, emotions, memories, and personal things.
