Agile Safe Autonomous Systems (ASAS)

Dr. Aliasghar Arab, as putting effort to develop and direct the (Agile Safe Autonomous Systems) ASAS lab, focusing on enhancing the safety and security of robotic and cyber-physical systems using formal and data-driven innovative approaches. His works, as a Robotics Research Scientist and as the Entrepreneurial Lead (EL) for a National NSF I-Corps award, underscores his commitment to addressing critical challenges in the industrial and urban robotics and autonomous vehicle domains. With his passion, the ASAS lab is spearheading developments that leverage both theoretical and practical insights to ensure the robustness of autonomous systems against threats and vulnerabilities.

Dr. Aliasghar Arab – Director

Dr. Arab’s leadership in mentoring two robotics research teams at NYU Tandon School of Engineering in addition to conducting interviews with experts across robotics, autonomous vehicles, and automotive sectors has been instrumental in identifying the immediate needs and challenges these industries face. This extensive engagement has not only provided a rich foundation for his work but also enables him to position the ASAS lab at the forefront of creating solutions that are grounded in real-world applicability and industry demands. His strategic approach to research and development, coupled with his extensive collaboration with co-leads and mentors, is driving the lab towards achieving significant milestones in the safety and security of autonomous and robotic systems. ASAS Lab’s work is crucial for paving the way for safer, more reliable autonomous technologies that can be integrated into society, highlighting Dr. Arab’s contribution to the field and his visionary leadership in the ASAS lab.

Najla Bouras – Associate Director

Najlaa is a Security Engineer at Nokia Bell Labs, where she applies her analytical, programming, and business skills to solve complex challenges in fiber optic networks. She has developed and implemented innovative solutions using Python.
