C&M Student Gabriela Bortolamedi Wins Doc Pitch Contest
The Fusion Film Festival is NYU Tisch’s premiere festival dedicated to celebrating the work of women in film, television and new media, from student to icon. This year, Culture & Media student Gabriela Bortolamedi won the Docs in the Works pitch competition for her film-in-progress Ni Aqui Ni Alla. She competed against four finalists who screened trailers, pitched, and got live feedback from top execs from HBO, Independent Film Project, History Channel, Impact Partners, POV, and Chicken & Egg Pictures.
You can see her completed film at the upcoming DOCS ON THE EDGE film screening on Friday, May 9th at 6pm at the Cantor Film Center.
Culture & Media Alumna Wazhmah Osman’s doc to screen in NYC
Culture & Media Alumna Wazhmah Osman’s moving documentary Postcards from Tora Bora screens in NYC on Saturday, April 26th at the Workshop on Infrastructures of Empire: Mediated Activism and (Counter) Revolutions. Osman’s film, which premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, is a personal documentary that shows the impact of three decades of war in Afghanistan from the point of view of people who have lived through it.
