Congratulations to Angelo Baca!

NYU Doctoral candidate Angelo Baca (Hopi/Diné) was recently chosen by the National Parks Conservation Association’s (NPCA) “Ten under Forty list” of dynamic cultural activists who make up the Next Generation Advisory Council.  As part of his work in the NYU Culture & Media program and as a cultural activist, Baca directed the widely circulating documentary Shash Jaa’ : “Bears Ears” and has been active in establishing NYU’ s new minor in Native American and Indigenous Studies. In addition to working on his doctoral thesis on the struggle to protect Bears Ears, Angelo is working as Cultural Resource Coordinator for the Bears Ears Inter-tribal Coalition; his op-ed on Bears Ears was recently published in the NY Times.
