Whitley Hsu

Accessibility & Research Designer
Whitley is a Museum Studies graduate student at NYU with a background in art history, education, and UX design. She initiated the project concept and led research on traditional Chinese scroll-viewing practices and Ming Dynasty literati culture. She developed accessibility strategies for blind and low-vision users, including tactile features, Braille integration, and visitor-centered interaction design. She also contributed to prototyping and constructed the physical handscroll to support a multisensory experience.

Yifan Zhong

Researcher & Tactile Developer
Yifan is a graduate student in Visual Arts Administration at NYU, with a background in studio art and art history. She is responsible for the visual and tactile content development of the hand-scroll and collaborates closely with the team to translate research into material experiences. Her work includes creating drawings for swell-form paper and textile embroidery for blind and low-vision users. She also contributes to the selection of museum collectives tasked with producing the 3D models to extend scroll drawing learning experiences.

Laura Liu

Software Developer
Laura is an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Web Development and Data Science at NYU. She developed an interactive and immersive digital experience from physical hand-scroll. Her works include building a device-responsive user interface to recognize and display hand-scroll components, and creating an interactive AR experience for Ming Dynasty artifacts using 3D models.
