HASTAC 2023 Conference Presentation and Workshop

This past week was the HASTAC Conference, held at the Pratt Institute campus. During the conference, Rosanna Flouty and Craig Kapp, along with Jeff Ma (Development Team) hosted a workshop and gave a presentation about our ongoing work.

On Thursday June 8, Craig Kapp and Rosanna Flouty presented Accessible Augmented Reality and 3D Printed Objects at Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy, which presented the development process of the prototypes made this past year. Rosanna Flouty, Craig Kapp, and Jeff Ma all hosted a workshop, titled Working In Real Life: Workshop to Build Accessible Augmented Reality Prototypes for Small Historic House Museums, on Saturday June 10. Here, the presented the AR prototype and worked to help others gain experience in making AR projects.

Historic Fractures Wrap Event

Our team would like to invite you to a short event on Thursday, May 11 between 5 and 6pm, hosted in collaboration between our Museum Studies grad students and a smart team of Computer Science undergrads. We officially wrap this work in October for our Digital Humanities Seed Grant showcase. This May event is casual and we will also honor our students (and their families) before they graduate, as so many are soon leaving NYU. Here is the RSVP link.

Historic Fractures Wrap Event Recap

On Thursday May 11th our team met in person for the first time to present our research, work, and porotypes to our NYU community, family, friends and supporters. The event was a success with each team sharing the process of working on their project from research at Villa La Pietra, to concept brain storming and conception, to the final work in bringing these prototypes to life.

In April, members of our team attended the Museum Association of New York (MANY) Conference in Syracuse. Our principal investigators Rosanna Flouty and Craig Kapp, and Jeff Ma (Development Team) presented our current work on AR and museum accessibility.
