The following is a brief desc-ription of volunteer responsibilities
Position: Tenement Talks Event Volunteer
Reports to: Tenement Talks Manager
Volunteer Desc-ription:
Tenement Talks—the evening series of lectures, readings, panel discussions, films, and other programs that provide historical and contemporary perspectives on New York City’s rich culture—seeks volunteers to help out at events. Volunteers should have an interest in New York history and/or immigration issues and availability to work one evening event per week. Volunteer opportunities include: greeting, serving wine, and videotaping events. Volunteers should be available at 5:30PM and able to stay at the museum until 8:30PM. As we use our Visitor Center/Museum Shop as an event space, volunteers must be prepared to help move furniture and must be comfortable running up and down one flight of stairs. Volunteers should have excellent customer service skills, a willingness to learn about the Tenement Talks programming, and an interest in engaging in conversation with visitors and guests.
Volunteers should talk to Amanda Lydon about Tenement Talks schedules and availability. Tenement Talks is an excellent opportunity to connect with the museum’s mission and the community.
