Came across 3 short pieces that deal with different aspects of managing electronic records. They’re more focused on the tech issues, but with the changing nature of documents, there are some implications for archives manangement in the 21st century and beyond — if you can get beyond some of the tech lingo.
Those are really interesting posts and the first one in particular reminded me of an excellent presentation that I attended at the SAA conference this year about the State of North Carolina’s web archiving program. Basically, social networking sites maintained by boards, commissions, and government deapartments are considered official government records in North Caolina, and since 2006 the state archives has been harvesting them using some tools developed by the Internet Archive. For an interesting discussion of the program, see the following URL: http://webarchives.ncdcr.gov/aboutwap.html
Thanks, Dennis for posting this up.
